Guardrails
The rain was coming down so hard I couldn’t see out the window. The fog and darkness of the night made driving even more hazardous. It didn’t help that this was new territory for me. I slowed down to what I thought was a safe speed, it was not enough. As I rounded the turn, my car started to skid. I sat there totally helpless as it spun out of control. When the car finally stopped, it was resting up against the guardrails. If the hadn’t been there, my short life on earth would have been over. Next time I’ll slow down even more.
In many circumstances, slowing down and considering the consequences of our actions and words is the best way to live life at a safe speed. Looking back at our lives, may reveal many things we would do differently.
At times we wish we could go back and start all over again. Is that really possible?
THE LORD FORGIVES AND FORGETS
The Lord has promised to forgive and forget our past mistakes if we are open and honest with Him and ourselves. We might daily put up “spiritual guardrails” by asking The Lord to help us say and do the right things. A little more praying and thinking before acting.
